CMA SA
The result of the merger of 4 lift companies in 1999, namely:
SA des téléphériques de Crans Montana (STCM),
Remontées Mécaniques du Grand Signal SA,
Téléphérique des Violettes Plaine Morte SA (TVPM),
Tel Aminona SA,
Remontées Mécaniques de Crans-Montana Aminona (CMA S.A)” operates the Crans-Montana ski area, whose highest point (Glacier de la Plaine Morte) lies at almost 3,000 m. above sea level.
In March 2011, CMA set up a subsidiary, CMA Immobilier SA, in which it initially held a 100% stake, and to which it transferred ownership and management of the Crans, Montana and Les Barzettes parking lots. Initially, CMA thus wanted to interest other partners in managing the significant parking capacity it holds at various strategic locations in the resort.
In May 2013, and again in February 2014, CMA carried out two successive increases in its share capital intended to finance certain investments to be made in the ski area.
In autumn 2014, following the increase in the share capital of CMA Immobilier, mainly carried out by RV Properties SA, CMA sold its catering business and related assets to this company and is now focusing its entire business on managing the ski area.
In February 2015, in order to ensure transparent management of the administrative part of the two companies’ business, CMA and CMA Immobilier created CMA Services Sàrl, which handles personnel, financial and accounting management, among other tasks.
In September 2016, CMA announced a further CHF 50 million share capital increase by the CPI Group. During the same period, CMA acquired CMA Immobilier SA, whose book value is estimated at 37 million francs.
In May 2024, Crans-Montana’s ski lifts were acquired by Vail Resorts. This change marks an important step for the resort, with prospects for modernising its infrastructure and boosting its international appeal, while preserving its local identity.
